In this upcoming Town Hall hosted by State Representative Maureen Madden, BWA Board Member Craig Todd will discuss how changes to the way stormwater is managed can go a long way to protecting our watershed, reducing negative impacts to infrastructure, and creating healthier, more sustainable communities.
In developed areas, impervious surfaces such as pavement and roofs prevent precipitation from naturally soaking into the ground. Instead, water runs rapidly into storm drains, sewer systems, and drainage ditches. This stormwater picks up anything that is on the ground and carries it along with it as it flows.
Animal waste, road salt, chemicals, pesticides, oil, and sediment – all end up in our waterways, and potentially, in our sources of drinking water. Without proper management, stormwater can cause serious problems, and one of them is the degradation of water quality. Effective stormwater management provides environmental, social, and economic benefits to local communities. Join the Town Hall on Saturday, March 7, 2026, to find out more.
