Cherry Creek Watershed

Christ United Methodist Church of Poplar Valley is found off Route 191 as it rises to the top of Kittatinny Ridge. Poplar Valley is situated to the south of Cherry Valley in the section running from the east at Tott's Gap Road to the west near Kemmertown. Methodists in Poplar Valley began to hold services in private homes about 1850 and in 1852 regular preaching was done in the schoolhouse. A church was built in 1859 during the pastorate of Rev. Reuben Owen. Trustees were John Edinger, Charles Dreher and John Staples.
